Crown, Alrewas

Hi Linda it was good to meet you last night at the Crown. I was the one in sunglasses (eye problems not a failed attempt to look cool!) who did the Hendrixy set with Stu the slide player. I've left my email address as discussed in the hope that your proposed project comes to fruition. All the best, Chris.

Alrewas

Hi I saw you at Alrewas last night Wednesday 27th June and I have to say that you did a great set .. I couldn't get on myself as there were just too many artists but it was a good night .. Well done and keep up the good work .... Jim "B"

Mama's CD ...

I’ve been playing the new CD on my new (well, re-conditioned) Yorkshire-made Sugden CD player through some equally classic Brit amps (Quad 405s, also used in recording studios) and an Aussie-made pre-amp through a pair of seriously good pro’ studio monitors - beasts, they are – huge Yamaha NS100Ms, made in the made late 1970s/early 1980’s but still one of the best, most revealing speakers, you’ll ever hear. So, what do they reveal? This:

The CD is bloody good, Linda! Love it. Seriously.

1. The writer in me likes the songs: The lyrics are nice reflections of genuine feelings, with which anyone with a heart ought to identify.
2. The bit of the musician in me likes the tunes: Gentle melodies. Not overly complicated arrangements. Your singing is excellent (as always) – track one shows just how good is your pitch. The band you have for the CD – they shine really bright, esp. on track 5 which is really tight. Love it! (You ought to do a few more in that gentle blues/jazz style – it suits your voice. Nice.)
3. The audiophile in me likes the recording quality … Excellently engineered. Not over produced, not over mixed.. Well balanced. Apparently simple mic arrangement. And the result … now, that is a real high fidelity recording. Anything less than good engineering is shown up to be what it is on my audio kit with flat imagery, notes with furry edges. Not so here. It’s three dimensional. It’s real without a hint of ‘sound system corruption’. It’s so pure, your presence seems to be in the room … somewhere between the speakers! I prefer cash, not cheques. Lol! Seriously, though this IS a SERIOUSLY good CD. Congratulations!

Hi, Linda, so nice to read your news. We've often thought of you and wondered how everything worked out after we met up with you at your gig in Grahamstown, South Africa. We just LOVE boating, so I'm really quite envious of you! Wishing you lots of happiness and success in your new undertaking.

The Boat

Hi Linda

I've just been reading about your boat. I hope you've found the time to watch "The Boat That Guy Built" (BBC 1 North). It must take some getting used to living on a narrowboat. Not a lot of space when you're used to a house.

Best wishes

GOOD LUCK WITH THE PROJECT

Hi Linda. You've made a good strart with your website and I wish you all the luck in the world with your project. I am trying to get a folk club (yes, I know acoustic is not just folk) in Rethymno in Greece. Hopefully something will come of it. I really don't know a lot about your previous incarnation with Magna Carta as I lost touch with them sometime in the 70s, but I well remember them doing Seasons in the St Martin in the Fields folk club.

Anyway, once again all the very best of luck.

Up with folk!

Great to see what you're doing and how things are going! All the best with this. It's pretty exciting.

Love

Arlyn
